Blue Black Arowana Fish For Sale

Blue Black Arowana Fish, also called Osteoglossum ferreirai. They are found in the blackwater Negro and Orinoco Rivers in South America, the Black Arowana is a sought after species due to its vibrant iridescent coloration and orange-trimmed black fins. Like all arowana they are large, surface-dwelling predators which require ample tankspace and a tight fitting cover as they are powerful jumpers. Black arowana are generally peaceful towards any tankmates too large to be eaten. Although slightly smaller than their close relative the Silver Arowana, they still grow to an impressive adult size and require an appropriately large aquarium.

Aquarium Size for Blue Black Arowana Fish

These peaceful fish mix well with other large fish, but need very big tanks with lots of free-swimming room. A 183 x 61 x 61cm/6′ x 2′ x 2′ tank should be the minimum, but longer and wider is better. Apart from their size, they’re easy to keep and become tame enough to feed from your hand. Install an oversized filtration system to handle the high ammonia wastes. Don’t keep them with anything small (they’ll eat them) or anything too aggressive (the arowana will get injured or will jump out, potentially smashing any cover glasses).
